Queer-Feminist Perspectives on Space is a collaborative platform launched in December 2024 by a consortium of diverse actors in urban practice and spatial theory.
The project’s first initiative invited participants to explore contributions by various authors through a digital winter calendar. These texts aimed to inspire socio-critical engagement with spatial research and challenge practices and theories from a power-critical perspective addressing exploitation and discrimination.
Working with the contributing authors, the initiators designed this format to spark discourse on queer-feminist perspectives in an accessible yet resolute manner.
In summer 2025, the texts will be republished in print, accompanied by a networking and exchange event in Berlin to celebrate their release. For updates, follow the platform on Instagram or Telegram.💥
Visual Impact:
The winter calendar was presented as a digital format on Instagram and Telegram with daily posts. Inspired by the Western Christmas calendar, its familiar sequence evoked joy, surprise, and gifts. Bright color strips on a patterned background featured bold white Arial numbers, revealing a concise quote from the author when swiped, with the full article in the caption.
The title “Winterkalender” and the number of contributions distinguished it from the Christian tradition, aligning with its intersectional purpose. Texts, limited to 2100 characters, conveyed essential points succinctly, making them accessible for everyday consumption.
